Terms of Service

The rules of the road for using pingable.me.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using pingable.me (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These terms apply to all users of the Service, including QR code owners (registered users) and scanners (people who scan QR codes).

2. The Service

pingable.me is a platform that lets you create QR codes for private, anonymous communication. Core features include:

  • •Creating QR codes that link to a customisable contact page (“bridge page”).
  • •Anonymous messaging between scanners and QR code owners via Pingable Chat.
  • •Scan analytics (approximate location, device type, timestamps).
  • •Email and browser push notifications for new messages.
  • •Downloadable assets such as lock screen wallpapers and printable luggage tags.

3. Account Registration

To create and manage QR codes, you must sign in using Google or an email magic link. You are responsible for:

  • •Maintaining the security of your authentication method (Google account or email inbox).
  • •All activity that occurs under your account.
  • •Ensuring that the contact methods you add to your QR codes are accurate and belong to you.

4. Pricing

The Service is currently offered free of charge. We may introduce paid plans or premium features in the future.

If paid plans are introduced, we will give reasonable advance notice. Your existing free-tier features will not be removed without prior communication.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • •Post, link to, or distribute illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content via your QR code bridge pages or messages.
  • •Send spam, unsolicited messages, or abusive content through Pingable Chat.
  • •Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scan QR codes, send messages, or otherwise interact with the Service in bulk.
  • •Impersonate another person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
  • •Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service.
  • •Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or other users' accounts or data.
  • •Use the Service for phishing, distributing malware, or any other fraudulent activity.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion.

6. Content and Data

You retain ownership of any content you provide through the Service, including QR code names, welcome messages, contact method details, and chat messages.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to host, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.

How we collect, store, and protect your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, code, and all associated materials, is owned by pingable.me and protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our prior written consent. Your content remains yours — we claim no ownership over it.

8. Termination

  • •By you: you may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes all your QR codes, conversations, and associated data.
  • •By us: we may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, or if we discontinue the Service. Where possible, we will provide advance notice.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

  • •We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service.
  • •We do not guarantee that lost items will be returned as a result of using our QR codes.
  • •We do not guarantee the accuracy of IP-based geolocation data shown in scan analytics.
  • •We are not responsible for the content of messages sent by scanners through Pingable Chat.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, pingable.me and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising from:

  • •Your use of or inability to use the Service.
  • •Any conduct or content of any third party using the Service.
  • •Unauthorised access, use, or alteration of your content.

This limitation applies whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
